PAUS 2010 FIELD DAYS ~ Marketing, Marketing, Marketing!

Pat and I realize that this has a much different focus than our past PAUS Summer Field Days, however, we hope you welcome the opportunity to see first-hand what our ultimate goal is—to market our wonderful and unique Piedmontese Beef!

Maps and various “tidbits” of information will be available to you as needed. To make this successful, we need your help, so PLEASE join us! If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 815-539-7117. We look forward to treating you to a great time!

 

THURSDAY 7-29-10

•  6 am-8 am Breakfast at hotel

•  8:30 am-Board meeting, Holiday Inn Express

4 pm-Unique (“cheap chicken”) dinner at a unique little but GREAT place called Ripp's in Ladd, IL This was chosen as they have been doing 1 thing and doing it well since the 1930's—they DO have the marketing figured out!

FRIDAY 7-30-10

•  6-8 am Breakfast at hotel

•  9 am-Farm tour followed by tour of Heartland Meats processing facility

•  12:00 noon-Lunch provided by and at Heartland Meats included

•  1 pm-Annual meeting at hotel

•  6:30 pm-Banquet provided by and at Heartland Meats included

•  8 pm -Annual Auction

PLEASE start thinking about YOUR DONATION to the Annual Auction. As always, this is great fun. Donated items need not be big or expensive. Please plan on participating in this worthwhile PAUS fundraiser.

 

SATURDAY 7-31-10 RISE AND SHINE!

PROMPTLY AT 6 am - Bus will pick you up at the Holiday Inn Express

•  6-8 am Nap or Network .

Enjoy a few extra winks before the big day OR visit with fellow attendees

•  8 am -Arrive at Oak Park Farmers' Market (Tip: You may want to pick up some fantastic donuts prepared right at the market with a unique marketing story)

•  9:30 am-Bus departs for…

•  10:30 am -Arrive at Chicago Green City Farmers' Market. Lunch included at the market

•  1 pm-Bus departs for Michigan Avenue, Chicago , IL OR stroll over to beautiful Millenium Park

•  4 pm-Bus departs for a great dinner featuring Piedmontese Beef at Scoozi, one of Rich Melman's Let Us Entertain You restaurants—the epitome of marketing!

Bus returns you to the Holiday Inn Express after dinner Bus, lunch & dinner included

Committee seeks candidates

 

The Nominating committee is seeking Board of Director candidates for the Piedmontese Association of the United States to be voted on July 30, 2010 election at the annual Meeting, to be hosted by John & Pat Sondgeroth, in Mendota, IL. Those who cannot attend may vote by proxy.

Four directors will be elected:

  • Region 6 ( Michigan , Ohio ): one three year term;
  • Region 8 (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia): one three year term;
  • Director-at-large position: The nomination committee is looking for candidates to serve a two year term.
    • According to the PAUS Bylaws no two director-at-large shall be elected from any one Region. So member from the below two regions may not seek nomination for a one of the two Director-at-large positions.
      • Region 3 ( Minnesota , North Dakota , South Dakota , Wisconsin )
      • Region 8 (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia)

The nomination committee is looking for interested and qualified candidates who reside in the open regions to serve. Any Active Member or Active Lifetime Member in good standing may nominate himself or herself, or any other Active member in advance of the Annual Meeting, by submitting said nomination in writing to any member of the Nomination Committee or to the PAUS office at least sixty days prior to the Annual Meeting.

In addition to advance nominations, a candidate may be nominated from the floor at the Annual Meeting, upon motion and second made by an Active member or Active lifetime member in good standing who are eligible to vote for the candidate so nominated.

Members who wish to be nominated are advised to:

  • Check to determine if a director will be elected from their region this year.
  • Contact a Nominating Committee member or the PAUS office to confirm eligibility and learn more about serving as a director. Contact Dan Schafer, PAUS President at 517-204-0166, Carol Crews at 918-287-3018, or the office 573-384-5946 or paus343@yahoo.com.

Director Qualifications summarized here are specified in Article V, Section 3 of the PAUS Bylaws:

  • Each director shall be a United States citizen who is an Active Member or Active Lifetime Member
  • Each director shall be in good standing, for at least two (2) years, prior to his or her nomination as a candidate for the board of Directors

In addition, it is recommended you be able to attend the quarterly board meetings, in the past they have been held; at the PAUS office in January, at the PAUS Spring Productions Sale in March or April, before the PAUS Annual Meeting, and at the NAILE Show in November. These meeting place and times can and have been changed. When available we try to have speakerphones, but this is not always an option. Boards of Directors are also asked to help chair the different committees that help keep PAUS running smoothly.
